Safari Itinerary
Days 1-3: A private Masai Mara safari
Your adventure begins upon arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, followed by a transfer to Wilson Airport, the domestic hub. From there, a flight transports you to Kenya’s iconic Masai Mara National Reserve and the renowned Kichwa Tembo Tented Camp. A beloved haven among safari enthusiasts, this camp offers sprawling savannah vistas and elegant canvas-and-timber suites. Nestled within a private concession, Kichwa Tembo offers the privilege of exclusive game sightings and unique activities like spot-lit night drives, not permitted in the main reserve. For a bird’s-eye perspective, consider a hot-air balloon ride over the Masai Mara.
With two full days at your disposal, immerse yourself in the abundant wildlife of the region. Traverse the terrain via 4X4 and, if desired, on foot, an excellent way to uncover intricate details guided by experts. Positioned on the seasonal Migration path, Kichwa Tembo thrives from August to November when the magnificent wildebeest herds are present. Witnessing river crossings during this time is a highlight, as wildebeest brave the waters, navigating past lurking giant crocodiles. Abounding with wildlife year-round, Kichwa Tembo guarantees exceptional game viewing throughout your stay.
Days 4-7: A beachside retreat
You also have the chance to be as active as you like: there is a popular beginner’s coral reef nearby, an 18-hole golf course and bikes to rent. Imaginative meals are enjoyed with sand between your toes and the menu changes daily: dishes include roasted pumpkin ravioli in crab and fish ragout, and passion fruit mousse with white chocolate flakes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the common questions which our clients ask as they plan for their African safari.
Do i need visa/passport?
Yes! To visit Kenya you will definitely require a passport and a visa. Your passport should have at least 2 blank pages and should be valid for a minimum of 6 months past your arrival date. This is to ensure that its validity does not expire before your safari is over.
There are 3 ways to obtain a tourist visa to Kenya;
- Visit a Kenyan embassy and apply
- On entry to Kenya you can apply for a landing visa. For a landing visa, you need to present your passport. A visa application form and a landing cad will be provided for you to fill out. You will then be required to pay the visa fee in US dollars, which is 50 USD.
- For a Visa to Kenya you can apply only by visiting http://evisa.go.ke/evisa.html
Can my children accompany me during the safaris?
Of course! The most beautiful African safari experiences are had as a family. Your children will enjoy seeing the many animals they only read about in books or watch in the movies.
It will be a memorable experience for them. However, it would help if you continually keep your children in sight, especially when in the bush or in a camping site or lodge. Some camps and lodges are not fenced and wild animals roam around freely. Safari guides, however, are always on the lookout to keep you and your children safe.
Kindly let us know during booking if your children will accompany you so that we can make prior arrangements to make their stay comfortable.
What do you mean by unlimited game drives?
A safari is all about freedom and flexibility in exploring the wild. This is what we give our guests. We give you freedom to exclusive wildlife viewing with no restriction on fuel and mileage.
As long as you are within the designated game drive area and the park’s operational hours you can drive for as long as you want. The game drive area also has to be in accordance to your itinerary. For example, if your itinerary reads ‘explore Maasai Mara National Park’, you can drive within Maasai Mara all day but at no one point can you cross over the Mara River into The Serengeti.
Are there bathrooms in the bush?
Your bathroom needs will catered for throughout the safari. There are several public bathroom facilities around picnic sites, camps, lodges ranger stations, visitor centers and museums.
This being a private safari there might not be any public bathroom facilities in sight. However, you will be given an opportunity to use bush bathrooms when no vehicle can be spotted nearby.
The big safari vehicle will keep you hidden as you go about your business. Bush bathrooms are convenient and you will adapt to them.
What kind of clothing should i bring with me?
For comfort throughout the safari, bring with you light casual clothes. Avoid extreme colors; not too dark (black and dark blue are a no) and not too bright. Try neutral colors.
Safari clothing tips
- Avoid dark colors like black and dark blue. Recommended safari colors are brown, green, khaki, olive and beige.
- Lightweight jacket or windbreaker
- Casual, loose-fitting clothes
- Comfortable walking shoes (i.e. Sneakers, hiking shoes)
- Sandals or flip-flops
- Swimsuit
- Hat
- Extra cotton socks and underwear
- One warm sweater
